MEA at Maraee Bahrain: Celebrating Western Riding Since 2010
Since the first edition of Maraee Bahrain in 2010, Muharraq Equestrian Academy (MEA) has proudly represented the Kingdom’s equestrian spirit through its Western-style riding shows, captivating audiences with skill, harmony, and the timeless connection between horse and rider.
What is Maraee?
Maraee is Bahrain’s premier agricultural and animal production exhibition. It was conceived to highlight the nation’s agricultural heritage, promote food security, and support local farmers, breeders, and agricultural innovation. Over time, it has grown into a festive platform combining livestock displays, rare horse breeds, educational exhibits, and cultural shows - all in service of strengthening Bahrain’s national economy and fostering community engagement.
As one of Bahrain’s pioneering riding academies, founded and led by FEI-certified National Coach Ahmed Mohammed Abdulrazzaq, MEA has played an important role in nurturing a culture of horsemanship and excellence across the island. Each year, the academy’s participation at Maraee showcases the artistry of Western riding, reflecting precision, control, and trust - values that lie at the heart of true equestrianism.
MEA also made history at Maraee Bahrain by presenting the first Bahraini female Western rider, a milestone that reflects the academy’s commitment to empowering riders of all backgrounds and advancing the sport in inclusive and inspiring ways.
Through these performances, MEA continues to inspire young riders and families to discover the joy of riding, emphasizing animal welfare, teamwork, and community spirit. The shows have become a much-loved feature of Maraee Bahrain, bringing people together and strengthening appreciation for Bahrain’s equestrian heritage.
Today, after more than a decade of participation, MEA remains committed to riding with pride and to building meaningful partnerships that support the growth of equestrian sports in Bahrain.
